ZAIO EXPANDS TO NATION’S CAPITOL
Boosting our profile with help from a seasoned communicator, and a new DC area
office
Zaio has added another heavyweight to its management team. Former Appraisal Institute
Chief External Relations Officer Don Kelly joined Zaio as Chief Communications Officer
on February 11, 2008. Kelly will be responsible for investor relations, external
communications, and media and government relations. He brings to Zaio nearly 28
years of experience in Washington, including 22 years in the real estate and home-finance
communities.
“Don's broad experience and ability to target key participants in the banking, housing
and mortgage finance sectors of the industry provides Zaio with a unique competitive
advantage,” said Thomas Inserra, Zaio Chief Executive Officer. “Zaio has successfully
deployed its technology in multiple test markets and has a base of more than 400
lender customers. The next step is communicating that success to the marketplace.
Don Kelly is perfectly positioned to lead this effort.”
Kelly was attracted to Zaio because of its people, and the Company’s potential.
“It’s an exciting opportunity,” said Kelly. “I’ve also been fortunate to work with
a number of Zaio’s executives and zone owners in the past. They’re a good group
of people doing good things.”
With this appointment Zaio enters the Washington DC arena, strategically near key
influencers and decision makers. Many major financial and industry groups have a
presence in Washington, and the city has a dynamic group of influential people and
organizations including public policy makers and regulatory agencies that have a
direct impact on the real estate industry.
Kelly noted that, “Washington has become a good launching pad for communications
with national publications – both traditional media and online communications. One
of my strengths is combining the elements of public relations, media and government
relations to maximize the reach of our message.”
As he gets up to speed on Zaio, Kelly is putting together a team to assist him in
Washington and other key regions. “We need to have an active on-the-ground presence,”
said Kelly. “We're communicating to a broad audience, and I want to make sure we
have a steady stream of information going to the public, investors, our stakeholders
and policy makers.”
Kelly’s long-term Washington connections will be a great asset to Zaio. He worked
with the U.S. House Banking Committee before moving to the Society of Real Estate
Appraisers, where he got his introduction to appraisals and the real estate industry.
He then held a number of executive positions with the Appraisal Institute, the world’s
largest appraisal organization, prior to joining Zaio.
